On Friday January 13th, the Westminster Youth Group hosted the El Halaf El Degerli family, and families of HARC to a night of fun, friendship and food! A total of 38 people attended, including children, youth and adults. The Youth ran five different activities throughout the evening for the children, while the adults got to sit back and visit. These activities included sock snowball fights, hide-and-seek sardines in the dark, Veggie Tales theatre, two science experiments, and a fun craft of make your own playdoh! Thank you to everyone who came out, and to those who continue to support the El Halaf El Degerli family.
On Friday Dec 9th the Westminster United Church Youth Group got together for a night of fun games, laughter, and a whole lot of sweating! Jackie and Ian were kind enough to host the evening with the youth and although the turnout wasn’t great (I’m sure the cold weather kept some away) everyone had a great time.
This coming up week is the WUC Youth Group Christmas party and it will be in the popular show format “Master Chef”. It will be held on Saturday instead of the typical Friday and it will run from 6-8pm instead of 7-9pm.
WUC Youth Group got together for a memorable Halloween Party! Reverend Brenda and Reverend Matteo Carboni (from the St. Andrews Anglican Church in Humboldt) hosted the event with lots of fun (and spooky) activities which included; apple bobbing for worms, worm in whip cream search (with their faces!), pumpkin carving, blind-folded food guessing, and discussion around the origination of the holiday. Otherwise, a pretty typical Friday night at Youth Group!
There was a huge turnout for the WUC Youth Group on October 21st for the games night! A total of 16 kids from grade 6 to 10 showed up with some of their favorite games for an evening of good times and laughter. The night got kicked off with an old favorite, Rummoli, and ended with a variety of groups playing cards, bananagrams, video games, and clue. We’re not sure what went over better, the games or the snacks… both tables were plenty busy!
Don’t forget to come out to the big Halloween Mashup this coming up week (Oct 28th). Dress up in costume and join Reverend Brenda in celebrating Halloween and discussing the traditions of Halloween and All Saint’s Day.
The WUC Youth Group came together on Friday September 30, 2016 to bake up a storm for the Mission and Service fundraiser. All of the cookies were made so that the Sunday School could decorate on Sunday October 2, 2016. The decorated cookies will be sold to raise money for the WUC M&S.
The WUC Youth Group also used the time together to complete their brainstorming session for the Youth Group activities for the year. Some of the activities include: fasting to raise funds for the soup kitchen, sleepover at the church, making and selling flower arrangements, silly supper, murder mystery night, and much, much more!!!
September 23, 2016 marked the kickoff of the WUC Youth Group for the year. The kids met at the Gathering Place for a night of games and music. Some local Humboldt musicians came to showcase their talent.
May 27th marked the Silly Supper event held by the Westminster United Church youth group. Silly Supper is three course meal served from a menu of gibberish. Each course has the opportunity to leave you eating with your hands, nibbling on nothing but utensils, or washing down your juice with a napkin! Sounds crazy? …yes, yes it is
